Donut Base//Make 1//Brown//3.5mm
- CH 18, slst into the first CH (this will create a circle): (SC, INC)X9. 27

- SC 36
- SC 36

- (SC, DEC)X9. 18
- SC 18 … F/O
- Stop at ROW 10 and attach the key ring, if you are going that route. You’ll want to attach it between rows #7 - 8 by looping your yarn (criss-cross) through the key ring and around the base piece. Do that 3 - 4 times then tie it off on the inside of the piece. Hot glue the ends down if you want some extra durability for the keychain. After your glue is dry/cool flip your piece back to the “right” side and continue on with the pattern.
- Before stuffing and sewing the donut base together, IF you are using safety eyes, continue onto the frosting for the sewing instructions.
Frosting//Make 1//Pink//4.25mm
- CH 18, slst into the first CH (this will create a circle): (SC, INC)X9. 27
- SC 27
- (SC 2, INC)X9. 36
- SC 36
- (skip 1 stitch, DC 4 in the next stitch, skip 1 stitch, SC in the next stitch)X9 … F/O
- I placed my eyes about 6 “gaps” apart (6 - 7 is a good range).
- Now place the frosting piece over the donut base. Line up the keychain with an “invisible” line down between the eyes you put on the frosting.
- Push firmly down on the eyes, when your pieces are lined up, so they puncture down through the donut base.
- Keep pushing the back posts through the donut hole until they are exposed. Secure the backs with the safety eye discs and flip to the right-side of the piece.
Frosting ears//Make 2//Pink//3.5mm
- Fold ear in half and crochet through ALL 4 sets of loops: SC 4, SLST … F/O
Snout//Make 1//Brown//3.5mm
- MR 4
- (INC)X4. 8 … F/O
- Using a beige yarn embroider 2 small nostrils onto your snout.
Unicorn horn//Make 1//Pale yellow//3.5mm
- MR 4
- (SC, INC)X2. 6
- BLO: SC 6
- BLO: (SC 2, INC)X2. 8
- BLO: SC 8
- BLO: SC 4, through both loops: SLST … F/O
//Sewing the donut//
A Note from It's Craftcratical:
So I will start this part out saying, sewing the actual donut piece together will be your biggest “struggle” (I think of it more of a pain in my butt or headache) mostly because it’s in the center of the darn piece! There will be a lot of tugging and pulling on your piece to make sure you’re sewing it together fully, but that’s really it. Once you get into a groove with it the donut sewing becomes MUCH easier. Also because we have added the ring and eyes before we sew anything together your ring MAY end up a little off center, that’s ok, most people don’t notice.- Once your keyring (if using) is attached and your frosting with the safety eyes (if using) is attached it’s time to sew the ‘body’ of the donut together. I like to gently stuff mine fully before I begin making sure to poke a hole through all the stuffing so my needle can get back & forth through the piece. Now start to sew the beginning and ending rows of 18 Stitches together. As you sew around the donut, keep moving and adding stuffing as you go (you don’t want to go much past 2-3 stitches between stuffing adding otherwise you’ll have a lumpy donut!).
- Once the body is sewn together, pin down your frosting and sew it to the donut body.
- Next pin down your muzzle (between your eyes) and horn (above your muzzle near the top of the donut *kinda in front of your keyring*) and sew those onto your donut.
- Then you’ll finally pin down the ears (where ever you think they look the best) and sew them onto your donut.
- FINALLY get that hot glue warm and ready! Add your glitter/beads/sequins to your donut and make him FABULOUS!!
Thank you!
